PACKED BUS CRASHES ACROSS PAVEMENT

COLLISION AVOIDED CARELESS PEDESTRIAN If a man had not walked in front of a car, it would not have swerved; if the car had not swerved, a city bus would not have plunged across a footpath. But this is what happened to the 4.50 p.m. Point Resolution bus yesterday afternoon. After turning from Gittos Street into The Strand, a careless pedestrian made a car-driver swerve in front of the bus, the driver of which immediately crashed across the pavement to avoid hitting the car. The bus just missed smashing into a fence and ran along the footpath and on to the road. It was crowded with passengers at the time.
