EVERYBODY’S AND TIVOLI
“LADY BE GOOD”
Dorothy Mackaill and Jack Mulhall, the most popular light comedy team on the screen, are now playing at the Everybody’s and Tivoli Theatres in “Lady Be Good,” a screen version of the recent musical comedy of the same name. They tell an amusing story of backstage life in vaudeville theatres. The supporting cast includes John Miljan, Dot Farley, James Finlayson, Tola d’Avril, Nita Martan, Eddie Clayton, Jay Eaton and others. A famous author, a splendid story with an absorbing plot, combined with masterful direction by a noted director, have been materialised into “The Chinese Parrot,” which is the second attraction on the programme. The cast includes K. Sojin, Marion Nixon, Hobart Bosworth and Edmund Burns. Commencing to-morrow, “The Big Noise” wil be shown. The story is a humorous one. involving a subway guard, played by the inimitable Chester Conklin, and was written by Ben Hecht, whose stories and novels have created a tremendous sensation in the past few years.
The story deals satirically with a political campaign in a big city, with Conklin, as the subway guard, uncon-
sciously becoming a political issue. It is said to be one of the most unusual stories ever attempted for the screen. The players consist of Sam Hardy, who portrays the role of a Coney Island concession owner; Alice White as the daughter of Conklin; Bodil Rosing as her mother; Ned Sparks, as the scheming politician, and David Torrance as the publisher of a newspaper. The second attraction will be “The Nervous Wreck,” a merry comedy, feat turing such well known players as Harrison Ford, Chester Conklin and Phyllis Haver.
