IN GIRL’S BEDROOM
DRUNKEN MAN’S VISIT OFFENDER ASSAULTS PARENTS Press Association. BLENHEIM, To-day. A desire to have a chat with a girl in her bedroom at 4.30 one morning led to the appearance of a young man in the Police Court to-day. Rex Brydon, aged 25, was arrested in Wellington on Friday on a charge of being found in a girl’s bedroom at Renwicktown, near Blenheim, at 4.30 a.m. on Thursday last, and with assaulting the parents of the girl when she called them in. Accused pleaded guilty this morning at the Blenheim Court and urged drunkenness as extenuating circumstances. He stated that he had no evil intent, having merely entered the room through a window to have a talk. When the parent arrived, he naturally attempted to get away, and a scuffle ensued. The Magistrate accepted this explanation and, on accused promising to take out a prohibition order, ordered him to come up for sentence within six months on the major charge, and fined him £ 5 for the assault. Brydon was ordered to pay costs of the prosecution, £3 14s.
