In the House of Commons Sir John Gilmour, Secretary for Scotland, replying to the Rev. Campbell Stephen (Labour), said he could not make a statement regarding .compensation for Oscar Slater, whose name had been cleared after he had spent 19 years in gaol on a. murder charge. He thought it better that he should first have a reasonable chance of making a claim. Major L. Hore Relisha (Liberal): : Would it not be more generous for the j Government to make a grant without waiting? . Sir John Gilmour did not reply.
