MADE A JOKE OF CRIME

AMERICAN GAOLED FOR SIX MONTHS Having been convicted of assault yesterday, Guy Carney was ordered at the Police Court this morning to make restitution of £5 within 12 months. Carney was also sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on a conviction recorded against him for theft on June 6. A further term of three months was imposed for failure to observe the conditions of a probation order, Mr. Campbell, Probation Officer, saying that Carney made a joke of the whole business.
