DAWN ASSHETON AND LASZLO SCHWARTZ
AT NEW REGENT ON FRIDAY The world over Dawn Asheton is noted for her unique song recitals in costume, and her engagement at the Regent Theatre, commencing on Friday, July 27, is part of the management’s policy to secure “something different” for the audiences. Broadening her musical horizon by visits into the hearts of other countries, this English artist has acquainted herself with their national spirit, and has made a composite act that picturesquely appeals to the senses. Colour and contrast are afforded in her contributions, and beautiful costumes synchronising with the groups of songs tellingly emphasise her gifts. She has a delicate finesse and strong dramatic force allied to a velvety soprano voice, and her entertainment, it is believed, reaches the pinnacle of celebrity vaudeville as regards music, melody and popular attractiveness.
Miss Assheton’s colleague in this effective stage presentation is Laszlo Schwartz, a violinist hailing from Hungary, and charged with all the musical intensity of that emotional country. He is a strong, supple bow, and gets the maximum out of his interpretations.
