ACCIDENTAL DEATH
BATH chair overturned BY CAR POOR VISIBILITY A verdict that death was due to pleurisy and shock, following the accidental overturning of a bathchair, was returned by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., to-day, m an inquest on the death of William Malam Pirritt. Deceased was being wheeled in a bath-chair along the Great North lload, new Lynn, on July 7, and was knocked down by a car driven by William F. Shaw. It was dark at the time and rain made the visibility poor. Shaw was trying to make out the centre line in the concrete road and pulled over to the left, striking the bath-chair from behind. He was travelling at a moderate speed. Deceased was immediately attended to and the accident was reported to the police. Medical evidence said that the cause of death was heart failure, pleurisy, shock and concussion. Deceased died immediately utter leaving the operating room at the Auckland Hospital. Donald Fogson, who was pushing the bath-chair, said that a better crossing was being sought when Shaw's car struck the chair from bohind. Tho bright lights on an approaching car were against good visibility and Shaw was travelling at a moderate speed.
