BOARD WONT RESIGN
GLEN EDEN PROPOSAL MOVER’S SOLITARY VOTE Interest in the affairs of the Glen Eden Town Board was shown bv the large number of ratepayers present at the meeting of the board last evining, when a proposal tlia'T the board should resign was defeated. A motion proposed by Mr. J. H. Hayes that the whole board should resign was defeated by five votes U one, Mr. J. M. West, who seconded tlio motion, not recording liia vote. Mr. Hayes said that in view of public dissatisfaction regarding the board* conduct of staff and other matters* be thought the best possible course wai to resign. The chairman, Mr. W. H. Shepaerd, stated that if the members resigned i t this stage, all board business *ouic cease. “I am ashamed of not!*ng tlu; has happened,” he said. “I am gettiis enough abuse, but I am going to my term out and do my best as chairman.” When the clerk announced tiiere were 16 applications for the position w foreman of works, Mr. Hayes moved that the board defer consideration until after the elections and when a ner board was in office. His motion w-S defeated, it being finally decided to deal with the applications in committee, after the ordinary business oi the board had concluded. _ A motion moved by Mr. W. b.
