RETIRING FROM POLITICS—A message from St. Johns, Newfoundland. says the Prime Minister. Mr. W. S. Monroe, unofficially intimates his intention of retiring from politics before the general election in November. —A.P.A.-U.S. MINING RELIEF.—The British Government’s relief to the mining industry will probably take the form of a reduction in railway freights on bunker and industrial coal for export. —A. P.A. MEXICAN MURDER.—The Mexican Government is considering the question of holding an investigation into charges made by supporters of the late General Obregon that Senor Luis Marones, Minister of Labour, created an anti-Obregon atmosphere and so was partly responsible for his assassination. The farmer bloc is demanding Senor Marones’s resignation and threatening a civil war.—A.P.A.-U.S.
