In the third and final Rugby League test match yesterday Australia defeated England by 21 points to 14. The weather was fine and cold, and there were 38,000 spectators. The teams were: Australia: Hardy, Pierce, Gorman, Craig, Wearing, Weissell, Busch, Steinhort, Justice, Treweeke, Dempsey, Armbruster, Kingston. England: Suliivan, Ellaby, Oliver, Askin, Gwynne, Rees, Fairclough, Bowman, Bentham, Burgress, Fields, Sloman, Horton. The fine weather made a great difference to the local team, and oh the day’s game the Englishmen were outplayed. The play was fast and open, and consisted more of individual brilliancy on the part of the Australians than of cohesive team work. Er|gland made a stubborn fight, but the brilliancy of the local players, who were almost always attacking, made the visitors’ display appear mediocre.
