LAST TEST GAME AUSTRALIA BEATS ENGLAND A BRILLIANT VICTORY (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) SYDNEY, Sunday. In the third and final Rugby League test match yesterday Australia defeated England by 21 points to 14. The weather was fine and cold, and there were 38,000 spectators. The teams were: Australia: Hardy, Pierce, Gorman, Craig, Wearing, Weissell, Busch, Steinhort, Justice, Treweeke, Dempsey, Armbruster, Kingston. England: Suliivan, Ellaby, Oliver, Askin, Gwynne, Rees, Fairclough, Bowman, Bentham, Burgress, Fields, Sloman, Horton. The fine weather made a great difference to the local team, and oh the day’s game the Englishmen were outplayed. The play was fast and open, and consisted more of individual brilliancy on the part of the Australians than of cohesive team work. Er|gland made a stubborn fight, but the brilliancy of the local players, who were almost always attacking, made the visitors’ display appear mediocre. It was the best effort the Australian team has made for some years The game in the first half was fairly evenly contested. The scores at half-time were: Australia, 9; England, 7. After this Australia took command and ended by winning comfortably. Wearing was especially brilliant. He scored two tries and kicked two goals. The gate receipts for the tour, which lias now ended, total ii 32,500! The English teanf sails for New Zealand on Thursday, where it will play nine matches.
