AUCKLAND RUNS UP CRICKET SCORE
OVER 12,000 spectators witnessed tlie rout o£ the Canterbury League representatives at Carlaw Park on Saturday in a record high-scoring game. Auckland ran up 66 points to Canterbury’s 26, the rate of scoring working out at a shade over a point a minute.
Canterbury put up a plucky fight, but for the most part was hopelessly at sea against the lightning thrusts and baffling changes of direction in the Auckland attack. At half-time, the score was 27-2 in Auckland’s favour, and the second half was of a farcical nature, Auckland scoring when and where it liked, and occassionally permitting Canterbury to do likewise.
