SLIP IN RAILWAY
RAIN CAUSES EARTH FALL NO DAMAGE DONE The exceptionally heavy rain during the week-end caused a small slip on the main North railway line just beyond the Waiotira Junction. Early this morning a fall of earth blocked the line and held up a work train about 6.30 o’clock. However, a repair gang was put on immediately and the line was clear again by nine o’clock. Tho train service between Auckland and Whangarei was not interfered with in any way. No damage is reported from any of the other railway districts, though rivers are heavily flooded.
