BIG SHOW ENDING

LAST DAY RUSH ATTENDANCE TOTAL OF 150,000 With an attendance of about 25,000 expected to-day and tonight at the Auckland Winter Exhibition, it seems likely that the total number of visitors since the opening will pass 150,000. This is easily a record for the show. When the lights of the last stalls and gaudy side-shows flicker out late to-night, conclusion will be marked to the 1928 exhibition.

Preparations were especially brisk this morning for the awaited rush, and stall-holders, assistants, demonstrators,, labourers and dozens of other show adherents scurried through the display sheds. Hundreds of country people were still arriving by car to-day, intent on making a final round of the exhibition. Their chief interest is shown in the stock demonstrations. This morning, Mr. N. R. Roper spoke on Friesian cattle, and Jerseys were demonstrated this afternoon by Major Spragg. NEW ZEALAND FILMS One of the main endeavours of the show committee has been to bring forward the merits of New Zealand, told by films made by New Zealanders. “In the Trout Country,” “Monarch of the Plains,” and “Fiordland” were screened this afternoon, and three more Dominion features, including views of the Huka Falls, will appear to-night. An Auckland firm made the film projector used. This evening the Auckland Highland and National Dancing Society is to present the “Midget Moselles” in stage entertainment. The Devonport United Band will march from the Town Hall, and is to give a long programme at the exhibition. Yesterday’s gate takings were £347, and thousands of school children were present. Last evening. Miss Stoddart’s dancing pupils gave an entertainment.
