CYCLIST GETS DAMAGES

SEQUEL TO COLLISION NEGLIGENT MOTOR-DRIVER (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMARUNUI, Friday. A collision between a motor-cycle and a motor-car at the intersection of Manuaute and Main Streets, Taumarunui, on Boxing Day, 1927, resulted in a claim in the Magistrate’s Court today by D. R. Gruebner, against H. Simpson, for £2Ol 13s 6d. Gruebner, who was riding-the cycle, sustained a broken leg and minor injuries. After hearing evidence, the magistrate said defendant, when crossing the street, although driving slowly, was not keeping a proper look-out. I-Ie was guilty of negligent driving. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £l7O general damages and £44 Is 6d special damages, and costs. Simpson was subsequently charged with negligent driving. He was convicted and fined £ 4 and costs.
