GAOL TERM FOLLOWS YOUTH’S JOY-RIDES

It is difficult for us to keep track of them.” Wit ft this- remark Chief-Detective Hammoncf concluded outlining the charges against • Arthur John Roberts, aged 24/ who appeared at the Police Court this morning on two charges of converting motor-cars to his own use. Roberts, who pleaded guilty, had taken the first car, belonging to John Joseph, on July 12. The chief detective said that, after driving out to Tamaki, he had called for three girls and gone for a joy-ride, in the course of which he had upset the car, causing damage that had cost £45 to repair. A few days later he had taken another car, belonging to an unknown person, but had returned it to the street where it had been parked a few hours later.
Roberts was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be concurrent.
