Jack Dempsey Quits Hotel Business With £20,000 Net Profit
JACK DEMPSEY, who reent, announced his retirement from the ring, has now gone out of th* hotel business with £20,00C profit.
Last month he sold the Barber Hotel in San Francisco for a r* ported consideration of £130,000. This is approximately £20,00C more than he paid for it in 1924. By a coincidence, Jess Willare from whom Dempsey took the title, came into the limelight at the ur ( time as the Dempsey sale was ar nounced. The huge ex-cowboy, who is now a wealthy dabbler othe Stock Exchange, sold “cornerlots on ’change for £40.000 are £19,200 respectively. The oldtime p-ize fighters were as a rec* apart from these modern business men of the ring.
