COOK’S BODY FOUND

STEAMER DROPS WREATH ON BAR (Special to THE SUN) RAWENE, Wednesday. The body of Mr. E. Merritt, cook of the Isabella de Fraine, which was wrecked on the Hokianga Bar, was found by search parties to-day, and will be taken to Rawene to-morrow. Formal evidence of identification of the body of the able seaman, Mr. Amos Suvanto. which was washed ashore about 16 miles from the scene of the disaster, was given by Captain Kennedy at the inquest opened at Rawene this morning. The proceedings were then adjourned sine die. It has now been decided to convey the body to Auckland. Relatives of some of the drowned crew are arriving at Hokianga. The steamer Arapawa, the first vessel to cross the bar since the tragedy, arrived to-day, and as she passed the spot where the vessel capsized, dropped a wreath in the sea from the Merchant Service Guild and Institute of Engineers.
