LADIES’ TITLE

PROGRAMME OUT EVENT AT MIDDLEMORE Programmes are now out for the New Zealand ladies’ championships to be held at Middlemore, starting on September 27 and concluding on October 4.

The president for the meeting is Mrs. P. H. Upton, the captain Miss J. M. .Reid, and the secretary Miss N. MacCormick.

The principal eveat on the programme is the championship, for which there is no qualifying play. Competitors with a club handicap of not more than J.O are eligible, and the rounds are played oft over IS holes, with a 36-hole final.

The present holder is Mrs. H. Collinson, Palmerston North. The meeting will be started with the inter-lsiand match, and the championship proper will be started on Friday, September 28. In the afternoon the Coronation Medal will be decided. Mrs. 1). Stout, Heretaunga, being the present holder.

The second round on Saturday will be followed by a bogey handicajJ, and the third round on Monday by the L..G.U. challenge bowl, held by Miss G. Siefert, of Manawatu.

Tuesday will see the fourth round of the Donnelly Cup and teams match, a medal event, the holder being Mrs. P. Sim, of Manawatu.

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday, followed by the second bogey. The two bogey matches carry a challenge trophy for the best aggregate, the trophy having been presented by Miss K. Rattray, being at present held by Mrs. F. Woollams, Wanganui. The final will be played on Thursday, October 4, when there will also be a foursome medal match. An additional trophy will be the Mellsop Cup, awarded for the best aggregate of three medal rounds, at present held by Miss O. Kay.
