HAMILTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. C. Hall left on Monday for a holiday in Sydney. Mrs. H. L. Prothero, of Auckland, who has been in Hamilton, has returned home. Among the guests at the Hamilton Hotel are Mesdames L. C. Kasta, of Toronto; F. Warren and A. J. Mills, °f London; L. M. Moss, of New Plymouth; C. A. Longuet, of Wellington. Mrs. Cliff Rowe, of Whakatane, is the guest of Mrs. R. English. Mrs. J. Hooper and Miss Peggy Hooper returned to Hamilton yesterday from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. E. Sandford and Mrs. F. A. Mitchell, of Auckland, are at the Hamilton Hotel. BRIDGE PARTY Mrs. Clough Blundell gave a jolly bridge party at her home in Te Awamutu on Monday evening. Her draw-ing-room was gay with early spring flowers. Mrs. Blundell received her guests in a salmon pink frock of georgette with tiny frills of a deeper shade. TALKS OX ACTIVITIES OR CIVIC LEAGUE On Monday evening the Community Circle was entertained by Miss Lovel, who gave a very able talk on “Sophocles.” She spoke of his ulays * and compared them with the works of other Greek dramatists. She also read extracts from some of his translated plays. Later, Mrs. Wright was very interesting in her talk on the work done by the Civic League in Whangarei. OPEXIXG OF MORRIX S VILLE HUNT Yesterday was the opening of the Morrinsville hunt. Morrinsville was en fete. Visitors came from Waihou, Te Aroha, Cambridge, Matangi and surrounding districts. The feature of the hunt was the arrival of an oldfashioned stage-coach and four, which headed the master, Mr. Wyn Brown, and the hounds. The hunt was received most hospitably by the surrounding landowners. All spoke enthusiastically of the good day’s sport. The hunt was entertained at breakfast at the Nottingham Castle, and dinner at the Morrinsville Hotel. There were riding: Mrs. G. Ranstead, Mrs. W. Ranstead, Mrs. T. Ranstead, (Matangi), Miss Johnston (Te ArohaL Mrs. Tom Harper (Matangi) and Miss K. Oliver. A great number of ladies followed in cars.
