PETITION TO PARLIAMENT (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Interesting tribal attachments are disclosed in a native petition in which 19 native residents of Motiti Island, off the coast near Tauranga, are asking that their ancient tribal affiliation to the Matatua tribe, of which they, of the Patuwai branch, are a sub-tribe, may be restored by placing tlieir administration in the hands of the Matatua Maori Council, instead of the Arawa Trust Board, as at present. nly three of the islanders belong to the Arawas.
