PRISON TERM FOR DRUGLESS HEALER

FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. Sentences of reformative detention for periods not exceeding 18 months and six months respectively were imposed by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court this morning Frederick Huddleston, alias Bernard Lowbatchewsky, the alleged famous drugless healer, and John Berenston, who on Monday was found guilty of having obtained money by false representations. The magistrate said Huddleston was the ringleader and to a certain extent duped Berenston who, however, on learning of the fraudulent nature of the business, had not withdrawn. It was possible that had Huddleston continued in business many deaths would have resulted, as he had no qualifications or training. People whobadly needed medical attention thight not have been able to get it.
