“SUNNY”

ST. JAMES THEATRE “Sunny” drew her admirers to St. James Theatre last evening in large numbers, and no wonder, for this charming musical production has few dull moments. The settings are elaborate, the music is tuneful and demands to be crooned, sung or whistled, the scenes move with a rapidity only possible on the stage, travelling from England to America in three hours and stopping for numberless delightful episodes en route. “Sunny” is a little circus girl, who eventually finds her lover, but only after she has been wedded, divorced and hurt in the hunting field. In the name part Miss Elsie Prince has never played more spontaneously

She was quick and happy, laughing, singing, dancing and spreading sunshine through nearly 11 scenes. Mr. Jimmy Godden was droll and amusing and thoroughly likeable. His quiet methods are very effective. Mr. Charlton Morton, Miss Betty Lambert, Miss Nellie Dean, Miss Elsio Parkes and Mr. Leonard Rich are all supplied with excellent material, and “Sunny” simply scampers along like a romantic holiday set to dainty music.
