AIRPLANE OWNERSHIP LASTS ONLY A WEEK
MISHAP IN CANTERBURY (Special to THB SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. AI! this is left of the Moth plane, of which Mr. Ken Hall, of Hororata was the proud owner for exactly a week, is the engine and the tail plane. When landing at Waikari on a return trip from Blenheim, Mr. Hall endeavoured to come down in a paddock that proved to be too small. He tried to take off again, but the machine failed to rise and ran down a 30ft. bank and was badl;> damaged. The pilot escaped injury. The machine had done very little flying, having been assembled at the Wigram Airdrome by Air. D. Mill just over a fortnight ago. It was then flown to Mr. Hall’s farm at Hororata, and from there to Blenheim. The machine cost about £BOO, and as there was no insurance the owner’s loss is very heavy. It is reported, however, that Air. Hall is ordering another Moth.
