Tokugawa, replying’ • to the toast of “Our Guests” at a reception by the Commonwealth Government to the Japanese naval squadron, said that while Japan entertained the kindliest feelings toward Australia, she expected Australia to look kindly upon the close and friendly relations between Japan and the United States. Japan would expect the United States to approve the close relationship between Australia and Japan, so that a great triangle to guard the peace of the Pacific might be created.
