CARRIAGE DERAILED
SOUTH ISLAND EXPRESS DELAYED Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Through part of the equipment of the engine of a passenger express from Culverden falling on to the line north of Ashley to-night the front bogey of the first carriage was derailed. This resulted in a delay in the service and passengers were conveyed to Rangiora by motor-car and thence to Christchurch by special train. Little damage was done to the track and passengers in the derailed carriage knew nothing of the mishap until the train stopped. Later the cariage was lifted on to the rails and the train came on to Christchurch.
