Big Parade Goes On
WINTER SHOW ATTENDANCE
Over 80,000 in Five Days
IN live days of the Auckland Winter Exhibition, the attendance has been estimated officially at well over 80,000. This is a record for the event, and last year’s gate takings have already been exceeded by several hundred pounds.
About 8,000 adults and 2,000 children under the guidance of 79 teachers attended yesterday. Takings reached £3OB, greater by £149 than the sum for the corresponding day last year. Country people make up a large section of the visitors and find much to interest them in the district courts and the stock demonstrations, which are conducted by experts each day. The exhibition is the Big Parade in the eyes of the people from the land. DANCE ENTERTAINMENT Last night a successful performance was given in the concert hall by i
dancing pupils of Aliss Beresford. They will stage another entertainment to-night. To-night, also, the Devonport United Band will attend. Night brings a true gala touch and there is little time to study the features of the show. Officials point out that day attenderfe learn more from the displays than those who come at night. The problem of lost children is troubling show committeemen greatly and they have issued advice that parents in such cases should call immediately at the secretary’s office.
