THEFT FROM A WHARF
SUSPECTS BEFORE COURT (From Our Own Correspondent., TIIAMES, Monday. Two men, Robert Bruce McCone and Cyril Desmond Hewson, uer* charged at the Thames Police Court to-day with stealing gods from tt« Puriri Wharf. Counsel for accused asked for bail which the pink* strongly opposed. Sergt. McDonnell said that U* men were known to the police, were not of good character. They rendered the police no assistance. The thefts had extended over a period of years, and the goods were stolen froa the wharf at night. The settlers hai been losing goods for years. The Bench remanded the men int seven days, bail being refused.
