PERSONAL NOTES
Mr. R. Prentice put up a noteworthy performance at the recent A.Y.C.C. Show. In the strongest class in the show —Unflighted Yellow Cocks —his birds stood first, second and co. mended. This is surely a reflection of sound breeding. Mr. Les Belcher put down his usual strong team, but had a really tantalising day, being just “pipped” in several classes in which the decision might have gone either way. Mr. W. Armitage is the latest addition to the list of championship winners, which honour he secured with the success of his Buff cock. This bird also took the “Davis” Cup for best in show and the “Speight” Cup for best adult bird. One of the most popular members of the club Mr. Armitage’s success was well received. The members of the Auckland Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Club will congratulate their secretary, Mr. Moore, on his successes at the Yorkshire Canary Club Shaw, held last week. Mr. Moore was successful in not only winning the Belcher Trophy, but also the pair of YorksWre canaries to the value of £25. These hi- is were presented by Mr. Ernest Davis, and are due to arrive in New Zealand from England in December. As both the Belcher Trophy and Mr. Davis’s canaries were for birds bred by exhibitor, Mr. Moore’s win is all the more creditable. Mr. E. Vernor, the well-known Oaraaru bantam fancier, sent four birds all the way to Hawera Show, held last
week, and was successful in winning Challenge Cup, two specials and four first prizes.
