First National Four Movie Features Planned this Year
STARS AT WORK In addition to four big pictures now in the making, an equal num-, ber of other pictures will soon go into production at First National’s studios in Burbank. Richard Barthelmess is to begin work soon on “Out of the Ruins,” adapted from Sir Philip Gibbs’s story of France after the war. John Francis Dillon will direct the picture. Billie Dove is to start on “The Night Watch,” with Alexander Korda at the megaphone. The action takes place on a French cruiser on the opening night of the world war. Paul Lukas, Donald Reed and Nicholas Soussain are to be seen in the production.
Colleen Moore, having returned from her vacation in Hawaii, has already begun work on “Oh Kay,” screen version of the musical comedy of that name. Alice White is about to start on her first starring vehicle, “The Show Girl,” taken from Liberty’s story by J. P. McEvoy. Alfred Santell will direct.
