DEBATE ON SOCIALISM

STRAND THEATRE TO-MORROW A debate is to be held in the Strand Theatre to-morrow night under the auspices of the New Zealand Labour Party. The topic is “That Socialism is Possible in Our Time,” the affirmative being taken by a Labour Party team and the negative by a team of students from the University. Meredith’s Orchestra, will play. COMMUNITY SING MEMBERS OF “ARCHIE” By kind permission of Sir Benjamin Fuller and Mr. John Fuller, Miss Elsie Prince, Mr. Jimmy Godden and Mr. Charlton Morton, in conjunction with the Rev. Jasper Calder, will act as song-leaders at the Community S.ing in the Strand Theatre next Wednesday from 12.30 p.m. to 1 p.m. The chairman will be Mr. Alfred Eady and the accompanist Mrs. Bar-rington-Snow. With these members of the “Archie" Company as song-leaders, Wednesday’s “sing” promises to be one of the most successful held so far this season. All the proceeds go to unendowed charity. OLD TIME DANCE GREY LYNN LABOUR PARTY Another of those enjoyable old-time dances will be held this evening. It will be held in the O’Neill Street Hall, Ponsonby, and under the auspices of the Grey Lynn Labour Party. Old favourites, such as the d’alberts, lancers and waltzes will be enjoyed, with music provided by Paltridge’s Orchestra. Anita Stewart makes her debut as a Columbia player in “The Way of the Strong."
