ORDERED OFF STAND PETITION TO PARLIAMENT (TEE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-dav A petition presented to Parliament yesterday was that of Donald Alexander McLean, a IDevonport taxidriver, who asks for an inquiry into the ■ action of Constables Butler and O’Carroll in ordering him to leave the taxi stand last August: because he was drunk, which charge medical testimony entireiy disproved.
McLean is seeking a public npologv and reimbursement for loss incurred through the action of the police.* A police inquiry was conducted by Sergeant Wohlmann last November, but the petitioner is dissatisfied with the result of if.
