“OUR TOM”
Heeney’s Parents Write Proudly of Fighter AN INFORMATIVE BOOKLET “What a splendid type is Tom. A big man, a very giant, splendid physique, and yet how light on his feet. What a warrior he’d have made in the old days.” Bo writes Lady Carroll, widow of the late Sir James, in th© foreword to “Our Tom,” an account of the life of Heeney, challenger for the championship of the world, written by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Heeney, of Gisborne. The booklet, well illustrated, tells all that his parents know about Tom, from his birth to his leaving for the big adventure in London. Here one finds how he wagged it from school, and how he beat Delaney. It is by no means pure parentworship. and the lad’s faults and their correction are told straightforwardly, h is a book which no admirer of the sport of boding in general, and of Tom Heeney in particular, will remain long without. t Part of the proceeds of th© sale of ‘Our Tom” in Auckland go to Jasper Calder’s City Mission.
