POULTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

STRATFORD WINTER SHOW Press Association STRATFORD. Friday. The North Island poultry championships allotted at the Stratford Winter Show were as follow:—Fancy Hamburghs, Mr. F. IT. Streeter; utility Rhode Island Red, the Rev. W. E Sice. In opening the show, the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. O. J. Hawkcn, referred to the splendid display of root crops. He said intensive farming was now a line on which the New Zealand farmer should progress. The operation of boys’ and girl’s agricultural clubs would probably make for more scientific farming in future, and his department would shortly appoint an officer to look, after these clubs.
