TIBET. TOO Can it be that Tibetans are waking up to the need of a good publicity campaign? The Dalai Lama has rather lost his value as “news” and Tibet has been left out in the cold for years while Paraguay and Andorra and San Marino and other Lilliputian States figure regularly in the columns r.f the daily Press. Something has to be done, so the inhabitants of South-East Tibet got together. As a result a general was murdered and a revolution ensued. “The revolt,” according to the cables, “is causing a very grave situation in Tibet, where heavy taxes have been levied.” That seems to be a fairly efficacious way of taking the “fight” out of them at all events. FALLACIOUS PROVERBS “A number of men are coming out from England and deceiving women as to their marriage status. It has got to be stopped.” These remarks were made by the Hon. Mr. Justice Reed in sentencing a bigamist at Wellington yesterday. How false are proverbs when applied to real life. For years now the L.O.M. has on all apt occasions quoted, “Once bitten, twice shy.” only to find that the principle is not true.
