CORBAN’S WINES
FOR THE DISCRIMINATING PUBLIC Artistically displayed on a slowly revolving, electrically lighted pyramid at the Winter Show, may be seen the finest exhibit of wines ever shown in Auckland, the product of the Mount Lebanon Vineyards, Henderson, manufactured and marketed by Corban’s. widely and justly known as “The Wine People.” These wines, which have been supplied to the Auckland Hospital for the past 15 years, are made from the choicest grapes, are thoroughly matured in the wood in extensive cellars, and Corban’s are in the proved position of offering the discriminating public wines up to 15 years old. The following letter speaks for Itself, as it is from the secretary of awards of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition, 1925-26: *'l have much pleasure in advising you that the samples of wine submitted for competition at this exhibition, and judged in Adelaide, South Australia, have received the following awards: Corban’s port, First Order of Merit (gold meal); Corban’s sherry. Second Order of Merit (silver meal). It will be gratifying to know that of all the samples submitted by the various exhibitors of New Zealand-made wines, Corban's wine was the only one to receive a first award.”
For the convenience of those who are not familiar with the prices ruling, the following are quoted: Invalid Port fas supplied to the hospitals). 425; RM Port, 48s; Tawney Port, 545; Special Reserve Port. 60s: Cellarman’s Special. 84s; Sherry (as supplied to hospitals). 4Ss: extra special “dry” Sherry. 60s: Madeira. 545: Claret. 425; special assorted case. 52s per case of 12 quarts (two gallons), freight paid to nearest port or railway station in the Auckland Province, for cash with order. A hearty invitation is extended to inspect and sample these wines at the show before ordering. Corban’s wines are sold to maintain the vigour of the healthy, to restore the sick and ailing, to assist during convalescence, and. in fact, are necessity to anyone who requires wines that vitalise.
“TANIKO” WEAVERS A weaving machine that is turning out scarves and cushion covers of exquisite workmanship and delicate colours is already regarded as one of the most interesting exhibits at the Winter Show. This weaving machine is operated by two young New Zealand girls, who mastered the art in London recently and have set up in Kent's Buildings. Newmarket, as the Taniko Weavers.
