EFFICIENCY COUNTS

BRIGADE BRINGS DOWN PREMIUMS

HAMILTON’S LOW FIRELOSSES (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON. To-day. The efficiency of the Hamilton Fire Brigade means that the Waikato town has the lowest fire loss in the Dominion, and has resulted in a reduction of fire insurance premiums. Although a poll of ratepayers on the proposed loan has not been taken the Underwriters’ Association have consented to reduce Are insurance premiums by placing Hamilton Borough under classification 3>, which means a reduction from 10 to 15 per cent., and if the water loan of £15.000 is carried, a further reduction in premiums. Tributes were paid at the Borough Council meeting last evening to the fire brigade, which had made the reduction possible, as Hamilton has the lowest fire losses in the Dominion.
