CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND
PLANNED AT MARTON FORMER M.P.’S ESTATE MARTON, Wednesday. The trustees of the estate of the late Mr. R. C. Bruce, ex-M.P. for Rangitikei (Messrs. A. G. Simpson and F. F. Hockly, M.P., and Sir Thomas Mackenzie) have decided to purchase a section in Marton, which the Borough Council will fit up as a children’s playground. The section adjoins Marton Park and it is the intention of the Borough Council to have it equipped ready for opening during Marton's Jubilee celebrations next year. The trustees have already spent large sums of money in afforestation in this district, and they have built the grandstand on the Uunterville Public Domain. Bruce Park, near Uunterville, is recognised as the most beautiful piece of
native bush in the Dominion, this area being acquired some years ago. This } is tho first portion of the funds spent in : Marton. where the late Mr. Bruce was | well known.
