WINTER SHOW AWARDS

High Standard Is a Feature In Home Industries Division SMALL FRUIT AND PRODUCE CLASSES WHILE a high standard has been reached in the liome industries section at the Auckland Winter Exhibition, the popularity of the produce and fruit groups has apparently Mr. A. C. Lipscombe, produce judge, regrets that there has not been more competition in garden vegetables. According to Mr. W. H. Rice, who judged the fruit, the entries have been astoundingly poor in number.

In the home industries, over 1,000 entries were received. “Under the present conditions, the exhibition is becoming industrial, and the sections want stimulating,” said Air. Rice. “It is surprising that there are so few fruit exhibits from a district such as Auckland.” The collection of seed potatoes is the best Air. Lipscombe lias seen and the honey -exhibits are good for this time of the year. Root section entries, mainly from the Te Kuiti district, are a fine type. Contrasting quality features the arts section, but a high standard has been reached in the commercial classes. Awards are; Needlework Plain Sewing, any garment: Miss A. R.
