BIGAMIST GOES TO GAOL Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Prisoners sentenced by Mr. Justice Reed at the Supreme Court to-day included James Albert Michael McMahon, aged 36, who pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy. He was sentenced to 18 months’ hard labour. “We are having cases from time to time of people coming out from England and deceiving women with regard to their marriage status, and it has got to be stopped,” said His Honour. William John Thomas Whalley, aged 30, for forgery and uttering at Auckland and Gisborne was sentenced to two years’ probation on the special condition of liis taking out a prohibition order and renewing it, paying costs and making restitution. Ralph Russell Lunn, aged 21, found guilty of theft from his father at Palmerston North, was sentenced to three years’ in the Borstal Institute. Walter John Hamilton, aged 47, for breaking and entering and theft at Nelson, two years' imprisonment and declared an habitual criminal. Horatio Martiner, aged 33, breaking and entering, and theft, at New Plymouth, two years; Cecil Francis, aged 42, indecent assault at Wanganui, sevn years' and declared an habitual criminal; Marcus Alfred Stapleton Mouldey, aged 25. breaking and entering at night with intent to commit crime. Palmerston North, three years’ imprisonmont.
