OBITUARY
MISS ISOBEL CLOSE Another of the old pioneers of Auckland, Miss Isobel Close, died at her home this morning at the age of 77. After a voyage of 112 days from Liverpool Miss Close arrived in Auckland in the ship Persic in August, 1860, with her parents and their family of nine children. Her brother, Mr. John Close, was in business in Napier as a member of the firm of Neale and Close. Two other brothers, Messrs. James and Nathan Close were in business in Auckland as Close Brothers. The only surviving member of the family is Mrs. Lora Parker, of Epsom.
