CHURCH GOVERNMENT

PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY’S PROPOSALS

AUCKLAND’S ATTITUDE Suggestions for the reduction of representation on the General Assembly were considered by the Auckland Presbytery yesterday. This proposal, among others, came as a recommendation from a special committee of the assembly to be considered and reported on by presbyteries to the General Assembly, which will meet at Auckland in November. The proposal to hold the annual meeting of assembly in March, instead of November, ending the financial year of the Church on October 31, was approved. The presbytery did not approve of the proposal that representation at Assembly should be reduced frpm onehalf to one-third presbytery membership.

The Rev. L. 11. Hunt’s amendment that the basis of membership should remain unaltered, was carried.
