Bright Market on ’Change
WAIHI CONTINUES TO FIRM
THE market lias a decidedly brighter tone and considerable business is being recorded at increased prices. Waihi scrip has firmed and a number of shares have changed hands on a hardening market.
Bank scrip continues to sell freely, Australasia. New Zealand and Commercial ot* Australia being: the most sought after on ’Change at present. Union of Australia although little business has been recorded are steady, buyers quoting at £ls, sellers £ls 2s 6d. Insurance shares are in demand and keen business is being recorded for both New Zealand and South British. In the miscellaneous securities, Dominion Pictures both ordinary and preference shares are keenly sought after at 20s 9d, with no sellers quoting, Gear Meat have also improved with steady buyers quoting. Milne and Choyce are also in demand with no shares or debentures offering. Union Oil, Soap and Candle have eager buyers at 41s 9d, no sellers appearing.
Mining is lifeless with the exception of Waihi which have attracted the investors, these shares are firming steadily, last sales recorded on ’Change at lls lid. Business at to-day’s mid-day call.— On ’Change: South British Insurance, £3; Auckland Gas (con.), 17s 3d. Reported: Sanford, Ltd. (pref.), £1 0s 3d; Wilsons (N.Z.), Portland Cement, £1 18s.
