Bad Luck Goes with All Black Tourists
KILBY OUT FOR TOUR OTHERS HAVE INFLUENZA (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) MAFEKING, Monday. Commenting on Saturday’s match. “Die Burger,” one of the best-known African papers, said: “The All Blacks’ attack was greatly affected by the retirement of Kilby. The backs were completely demoralised. Stewart was a great weakness at centre, continually letting the opposition through. The match cannot be taken too seriously. The slow delivery of the ball by MacGregor from the scrums gave the backs little chance.” Kilby underwent an X-ray examination yesterday. It was found that a
small bone above his ankle was splintered and he is in hospital at Kimberley for a fortnight. It is highly improbable that he will play for the rest of the tour. Bad luck sticks to the All Blacks. Many members of the team are suffering from slight influenza, and they are now on their way to Victoria Fails for a complete spell from football for a week. The South African selectors are making their first official visit to Rhodesia. They are travelling with the team.
