ORANGE BLOSSOMS MORRIS—McKENNA St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Paeroa, was the scene of a pretty wedding recently between Ivy Muriel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. McKenna, of Paeroa, and Leslie Victor, son of the late Sydney Morris and Mrs. X. Morris, of Ngaruawahia. The church had been prettily decorated by girl friends of the bride. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Lowden. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory silk georgette mounted on white satin, with drapings of georgette from the shoulder, held at the waist with a diamante buckle. A spray of orange blossoms put a dainty finish to the shoulder and waist, and the skirt was trimmed with fine silver lace. Her long embroidered tulle veil fell from a coronet of orange blossoms, and a shower bouquet of white crysanthemums, pale pink rosebuds and maidenhair fern completed her toilette. Miss Madge Gunn and Miss Xellie Morland attended as bridesmaids, and were gowned in Victorian frocks of pale pink taffeta with silver trimmings. The bridegroom was accompanied by his brother, Mr. E. Morris, and Mr. C. Jesney, of "Waikino. A reception was held at the Centenary Hall.
AT MORNING TEA Golden narcissi were gracefully arranged in tall crystal vases to decorate the tables at the Tudor Tea Booms this morning, when Mrs. R. H. Webber gave an enjoyable party in honour of Mrs. Ray Fuller, who has just returned to Auckland after an extensive tour of New Zealand. Mrs. Webber wore a smart gown of navy blue pleated mariette, with touches of ecru lace, and a small cerise felt hat. Mrs. Fuller was wearing a navy blue crepe faille frock with roulet embroidery and relief of henna shade. Her close-fitting hat was of navy felt. The other guests were: Mrs. Errol Fuller, in a steel grey and naples blue juniper suit and hat to tone. Mrs. C. Smith, wearing rose du barni crepe de chine under a deep rose coat of chenille velvet, with a black hat. Mrs. P. Ross, in paisley patterned crepe de chine, with a black coat and a small black hat. Mrs. George Brown, who wore a tucked rose blush frock with a black coat and hat. Mrs. E. Kirby, in a black bolero frock with vandyked white facings and a black felt hat. Mrs. C. Crosher, wearing floral patterned crepe de chine in petunia tonings and a matching hat. A TRIPLE BILL LYCEUM CLUB PLAYS The dramatic circle of the Lyceum Club presented three one-act plays last evening to a large and appreciative audience. “Bobbie Settles Down.” which has a very original plot, was the first piece, in which the parts were capably taken by Miss Marie Gaudin, as the flighty young person who - could not be persuaded to settle down; Miss Minnie Salek, as her despairing sister; and Mr. Len Keven as a somewhat unwilling go-between. As an eavesdropping parlourmaid, Miss Sheela Wily provided some amusement. “Gaspers,” a clever little play, was well done. Miss Maida Hooker, Mr. Raymond Sawyer, and Mr. Maurice Steadman filled the cast. The scene was laid at night in a park, and the unique way in which the girl hoodwinked a passer-by at the expense of a park sleeper was most laughable. The third play, “Between the Soup and the Savoury,” was excellently played by Mrs. Estelle Verran (the cook), Mrs. Muriel Hobday (the parlourmaid), and Miss Anita Webster (the kitchenmaid). Their work was outstanding, and the highly amusing dialogue kept the audience in a ripple of laughter. The story told of the vain longings of a kitchenmaid, who was anything but attractive, for a real admirer of her own, and of her pathetic attempts to convince the other domestics of the existence of such a one. The ignominious defeat of her plans, and the collapse of her “castle,” made a sensational “curtain.” Miss Florence "Walker’s orchestra provided some delightful music, and the programme included vocal items by Mrs. Hobday and Mr. Len Keven. TO REMOVE TAR FROM GARMENTS Tar may be removed from clothing most efficiently—and inexpensively—by the following simple method. Dip a clean piece of rag in eucalyptus oil and apply to the stain, which will soon disappear like magic. But a fresh bit of rag must be used for each rub you give the cloth. When the tar has been removed there will not be a trace of stain left by the oil.
