“OUTWARD BOUND”
LITTLE THEATRE SEASON TRIBUTE TO PRODUCER Mr. Kenneth Brampton, producer of “Outward Bound,” and the members of the Auckland Little Theatre Society who took part in their latest production, were warmly applauded at the close of last evening’s performance, which marked the conclusion of the Sutton Vane comedy season. There were flowers in abundance for the women principals, and mysterious packets for the men. Commenting upon the performance, Mr. Brampton said: “There is no doubt about the fact that every performer stood up remarkably well to a very difficult play.” Mr. Brampton alluded to a recent Sydney criticism which said the repertory movement was dead in that city because amateurs could not “stand up” to the work as professionals did. “Thar complaint can never be made against the Auckland players,” “Outward Bound’s” producer emphatically claredMr. Brampton again emphasised the necessity for a strong membership for the support of the Little Theatre movement, and said there was no reason why any interested person should not join the Auckland Society. Tribute to Mr. Brampton’s services as producer was paid by Mr. Roberts Tole. Mr. F.\L. Armitage, another member of the cast, said: “We were never in doubt as to exactly how bad we are. Mr. Brampton kept us well informed on that point at rehearsals.” The company gave another excellent performance of “Outward Bound.” Members of the cast were: Daphne Knight, Lynda Murphy, G. D. Swan, F. L. Armitage, R. Tole, A. F. Goodwin, Nancy St. C. Whyte, Montagu Steele and John Stewart.
