POWER INTERRUPTION
“DONE DELIBERATELY” BREAKAGE AT TAMAKI Copper wire has been thrown de liberately across high-tension transmission wires in the Tamaki district. This has caused recent failures in electric power. “rpms is a dastardly thing, and there is no saying where it will end,” declared Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, Auckland Electric-Power Board chairman, when Mr. R. H. Bartley, general manager, made a report on the subject. “Such deliberate interruption is most difficult to locate.” “I know exactly where the wire came from, a*? it is a piece of the board’s own copper binding, and we have only one dump for it,” said Mr. Bartley. “There is no doubt that it was placed there intentionally; as to the motive, I am not sure. "We know’ the people who have occess to this w r ire, and it is possible we w r ill be able to trace the offender. HIGH WEEKLY COST “The practice has cost the board £6O or £7O during the past week, besides service interruption. The line in Tamaki has been down three times and eight men had to be kept out in the rain on Saturday night.” The opinion was given that the subject should be brought to the notice of the police.
