STOLEN CARS
THREE RECOVERED “JOYRIDERS” ACTIVE Three motor-cars were stolen by “joy-riders” during the week-end, and recovered again by the police. None of them had been damaged, except that the number-plates had been removed from one car. An Essex car belonging to Mr. C. H. Chamberland, of Papakura, was taken from the Civic Square between two o’clock and 5.30 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. It was recovered in Ponsonby by the Newton police, with the number-plates missing. Anotligp Essex, the property of Mr. Louis Marquent, of Waituna Road, Kemuera, was taken from outside his residence between 7.40 o’clock and nine o’clock on Saturday. It was recovered later about 50 yards from where it had been removed. A Ford car belonging to Mr. Arnold Jones, of Howick, was taken from near the Town Hall, but was' recovered again.
