NEW HIGH COMMISSIONER British Official Wireless Reed. 10.45 a.m. RUGBY, Thursday. The King has to approve the appointment of Sir John Chancellor to be High Commissioner and Commander-in-Chief for Palestine and High Commissioner for Transjordan, in place of Field-Marshal Lord Plumer, whose tenure of these offices will shortly end. Sir John Chancellor, who is 58 years old, has had a distinguished career as a soldier and colonial administrator. He has been Governor and Com-mander-in-Chief in Southern Rhodesia since 1923.
