Mr. John Fuller last evening sent tickets to all the City Councillors and their wives to attend the new St. James Theatre this evening. There were no tickets left over. * * * The Finance Committee will deal with the question of making an offer to Messrs. Moses in payment for land taken for the widening of High Street. * * * The council joined the Harbour Board in deciding to give full control of Kauri Point Domain to the Birkenhead Borough Council. The Mayor said he had attended one meeting of the Domain Board in three years—and that was a formal meeting. * * * “There vron’t be any streams of champagne or anything like that.”— Councillor Stallworthy referring to a function to the Japanese Prince due this month. * * * Several pages of reports on the subject of installing water-meters in Auckland were tabled. The Water Committee recommended that no action be taken, and this was adopted without discussion. * * * Negotiations will be opened immediately with the idea of exchanging land owned by the council at Punakitere for Government land required for water purposes in the Hunua ranges. * * * The city’s grant of £2,000 will be paid to the museum authorities forthwith. The museum funds are practically depleted. * * * The council decided that it was not interested at present in a proposed new road from Auckland to Muriwai, via Taupaki. The road would reduce the distance by eight miles, and is being fostered by Waitakere Ranges, Ltd
