ORANGES SELLING FREELY CHEAPER HEN EGGS Steady trading is reported in most sections in the City Marts, with little movement in prices. Quotations for eggs have eased slightly over the week. Apples are meeting with a better sale, though there has not been much improvement in prices. Pears are still hard to quit at the prices quoted. Oranges continue to sell freely at unchanged prices. A small consignment of Rarotongan oranges came to hand via Wellington today. The Waipiata is now loading down in the Islands for this port. Tomatoes Dull of Sale Hothouse tomatoes are meeting with a poorer demand. A further consignment of Rarotongan tomatoes came to hand this morning, via Wellington. Values for repacked bananas have Improved over the week, owing to shorter supplies. A fresh shipment from Fiji is due on the Tofua on Monday. A shipment of Sydney fruit came to hand this week, many lines, however, opening up in rather bad order. Pines and passions sold well, but the supply was limited. Sydney mandarins made 12s 6d to 16s 6d a case; pines, 18s to 255; passions, 30s to 31s; Sydney Saville oranges, 10s to 12s. Vegetables Sell Freely Ample supplies of most varieties of vegetables are coming forward in the field and garden produce section. The market is heavily supplied with pumpkins. Kumeras are offering more freely The market for hen eggs eased another Id over the week. Prices for duck eggs, on the other hand, are firmed by Id, owing to a decided shortening of supplies. Fairly heavy supplies of poultry came forward to to-day s sales to meet with a good demand. Heavy hens met with a particularly ready sale. The market for light breed hens has shown a slight improvement over the past few days. Ducks are offering more freely, and the market is a little easier. Quotations lifted from the City Marts this morning ranged as follow: Fruit' Apples.—Stunners, 4s to 7s a case; Delicious, 5s to 7s; Ballarats, 5s to 6s 6d; Rome Beauty, 4s to 5s 6d; Doughertys, Ss 6d to 6s; Granny Smith, 9s to 10s. Pears.—Nellis and Coles, 7s to 9s a case; cooking pears, 6s 6d to 7t 6d. Tomatoes.—Hothouse, 3d to lOd a lb; outdoor, 4s to 6s a case; Island, Ss to 10s. Grapes.—2s to 2s 9d a lb, extra choice higher valued. Lemons. —10s to ISs a case. Oranges.—lsland, 11s 6d to 12s 6d a case; Sydney, 10s to 12s 6d; poor man, Ss to 11s. Bananas.—lss to 235. Tree Tomatoes.—6s to Ds a case. Mandarins.—Sydney, 14s to 15s 6d a Vegetables Potatoes.—Ss to 9s a cwt; new, to Sid a lb. Onions.—l2s to 15s a cwt. Kumeras. —Tauranga, 16s to 20s a cwt.
